The price of this trip is all-inclusive (excluding flights and bike hire). Iceland can be very expensive so we have created an all-in formula so that there will be no nasty surprises on your credit card statement.
Your own private group. A biking experience isn’t Beyond if you cannot share it with your best friends. We only offer private group holidays, small in size, so that each group is made up of like-minded travellers.
Airport transfers. On arrival, the group will be transfered from Kevlavik International Airport to Lake Elliðavatn. For departure, a transfer from Reykjavik City to Kevlavik International Airport will be provided, with the possibility to stop at the Blue Lagoon.
All lodging over nine nights. On the first night, you will stay at a lakeside country hotel, followed by a hot spring guesthouse (Reykjadalur), a beachside hotel (Vik) and five nights in cosy mountain huts in the middle of some of Iceland’s best lava sculptures and mountains (Laki, Mælifellssandur & Fjallabak areas). Five-star views are guaranteed throughout. And on the last night, you’ll stay at a trendy spa hotel in Reykjavik.
Fresh & healthy Icelandic cooking, nightly. You’ll have the opportunity to discover the true soul of Icelandic cooking and with it, how fresh food should really taste: from arctic seafood, to reindeer steak, to lamb – a real ‘must-try’ while visiting the country. Not to mention, the taste of hormone-free dairy products, and organic fruits and vegetables grown in geothermally-heated greenhouses.
A new Nordic cooking experience in Reykjavik. Included in your holiday is a three-course meal on your final evening at a trendy, high-end Reykjavik restaurant where you will sample new Nordic cooking, which offers an experimental interpretation of local ingredients.
Breakfast and lunch. A full Icelandic breakfast will be followed each day by lunch, either served on the trail or presented as a packed lunch.
Full support. Fully qualified and experienced mountain bike guides will be at your service. You’ll be in the safest of hands while developing your skills along the way. Each group will also be joined by an assistant guide/support driver throughout the trip, and all group safety and bike maintenance equipment will be provided.
Transport. All group transport is provided throughout the trip (starting and finishing in Kevlavik Airport), as is a support vehicle and trailer. Luggage will be ferried by the support car.
Biking, camping and entrance fees: All entrance fees and permits for biking and camping in Iceland are included, as is the entrance fee for the Blue Lagoon in Keykjavik.
Flights. Travel or flight costs and charges for travelling with your bike (if applicable) are additional. Please check with your airline carrier for bike carriage charges on your flight(s). Flights should not be booked until you have received your Beyond Biking booking confirmation. You will need to make your own way to our meeting point at Keflavik International Airport, Reykjavik. The standard schedule for this Beyond Biking trip is Friday as the arrival day and the following Sunday as the departure day. We can fix the start and end days of the tour to work around your flights. Icelandair has direct flights to 40 destinations in Europe. Other European Airlines which fly directly to and from Reykjavik include SAS, Lufthansa, Transavia, EasyJet, WOW Air and Thomas Cook.
Keflavik International Airport can be reached directly from 53 airports from the USA and 37 from Canada, all with Icelandair.
Bike hire. The bikes for rent are Trek 4300 and Trek X-Caliber 29 (aluminum frame with 100mm front suspension and Hayes hydraulic disc brakes). Bike Radar has reviewed these bikes as ‘high quality build and proven handling at a modest price’. Good enough, but not the best quality. So, if you have a very good mountain bike, we recommend that you bring it for this trip. The tour can easily be done on a hard tail bike. And we typically recommend light XC full suspension bikes, giving you more comfort on some technical single tracks. If renting a bike and using clipless pedals, please bring your pedals and shoes. The price is 395€ for the entire trip. Prices do not include spare parts like spare tubes, replacement derailleur hangers or others.
Drinks. We do not provide any drinks, alcoholic or otherwise, during the day or with evening meals.
Single room. For an additional cost, single room options may be available, if requested.
Travel Insurance. It is a condition of joining any of our trips that you are insured against medical and personal accident risks (to include repatriation costs, air ambulance and helicopter rescue services). You will need to advise us of your policy details and complete an insurance declaration form. Beyond Biking recommends Allianz Adventure & Survival Assistance (for EU residents), Campbell Irvine (for UK residents), Travelex (for US residents) and IMG Globe Hoppers (worldwide). These companies offer the ultimate in travel protection and emergency travel assistance, and their policies are especially designed for adventure holidays. You will need to arrange your own insurance directly. We strongly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance, as some deposits are non-refundable.
Others. Bar bills, telephone calls, souvenirs, entrance fees to cultural or historical sites, spa treatments, personal clothing and equipment and all tips are not included.
